The problem
We need to act now!
Indonesia generates 8 million tons of plastic waste per year, of which 5 million tons are mismanaged due to a lack of a proper waste management infrastructure. As little as 10% is being recycled, the rest goes to open landfills, illegal dumping and open burning. An environmental disaster.
Our solution
Wahu Waste Hubs
Wahu is building a network of Smart Waste Hubs driven by our smart Wahu App, enabling 100% traceability. Consumers collect and drop off their plastic household waste at our Smart Waste Hubs and receive instant cash in their e-wallets. By doing so we change people's behavior, improve their lives and prevent plastic from ending up in nature. We will expand our network of Smart Waste Hubs in Jakarta and Bandung to over 300 Smart Waste Hubs across the island of Java within the next three years. At our Materials Recovery Facility in Jakarta, we collect and process approximately 400+ tons of plastic waste every month, equivalent to 11 million plastic bottles. Every single month! Through our efficient Wahu approach to plastic waste, we create cleaner and healthier communities, generate jobs, and significantly reduce toxic emissions from open burning. We need your help to make even more impact: with your help we can grow our network to 300+ Smart Waste Hubs and create 100+ more jobs.
Our impact
It works!
Every month, we prevent plastic from polluting nature, being openly burned or ending up in unmanaged landfills. But our impact goes beyond the environment. Through our hubs, we create jobs, provide extra income for local waste collectors, improve living standards and support schools and communities with education and resources. Together, we build cleaner, healthier and more prosperous communities.

How you can help
Help recover 1.000 plastic bottles or more
Individuals: for just EUR 10 per month, you can save 1.000 plastic bottles from the environment; for EUR 100 per month, that number rises to 10,000. Businesses can support starting from EUR 100 per month, saving up to 10,000 bottles per month. Of course you can also decide to do a one-off contribution!
Make IMPACT with every product you sell
For every product you sell, a defined number of plastic bottles is collected and saved from the environment. Share your sustainable contribution in all your communications.
ADOPT a Smart Waste Hub
Sponsor a staffed Smart Waste Hub or drop box to grow our network of collection points and make plastic waste collection accessible to millions of people. Choose your package, complete with branding and monthly updates on your environmental and social impact.

These companies, individuals or groups of individuals are already contributing to the Wahu effect. Less plastic waste in nature and more recycled plastic in products.
In Holland we have a deposit return system for plastic bottles that works pretty well. I support Wahu to bring a solution to Indonesia where plastic waste is a big threat to the environment and public health. Happy to help!
